چکیده
SSOCIATED PROLIFERATION of the various hematologic elements in the marrow, although recognized for some time,2 has recently been the subject of renewed interest.3’8 A close relationship between myelofibrosis and he leukoerythroblastic conditions was demonstrated by Vaughan and HarrisonT in 1939. They suggested that an unknown stimulus acting on the primitive mesenchymal reticulum cell may be responsible for the production of this closely related group of diseases which Dameshek has called “myeloproliferative disorders.”1 In this background the intimate association of polycythemia vera and myelogenous leukemia is readily understood. Between the relatively pure clinical pictures at each extreme there occur varying degrees of mixed or transitional forms which Martin and Bayrd have classified into different subtypes of “erythroleukemia.”8 It would appear that conversion of polycythemia vera into myelogenous leukemia or the simultaneous presence of the two is by far the most common course of events. l4huiO’2o The following case is of interest because a picture of chronic granulocytic leukemia preceded the appearance of polycythemia vera.

متن کاملEvolution of Marginal Zone Lymphoma Towards Myeloproliferative Disorder: A Case Report
Introduction Lymphoma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by nodal or extranodal malignant infiltration by monoclonal lymphoid cells (B lineage cells in 70% of the cases). Its etiology is not precisely known. Prolonged life expectancy has resulted in increase of the disease incidence. Marginal zone lymphoma is a low-grade small B-cell lymphoma incorporated in the World Health Organization...

INTRODUCTION The World Health Organization classification of chronic myeloproliferative disease encompasses eight entities of bone marrow neoplasms, among them Breakpoint cluster region-Abelson murine leukemia viral oncogene homolog 1-positive chronic myeloid leukemia and polycythemia vera. Polycythemia vera requires, in the majority of cases (95%), the negativity of Breakpoint cluster region-A...
متن کاملTherapeutic Challenges in the Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction in Polycythemia Vera
Polycythemia rubra vera (PV) is a chronic myeloproliferative disorder characterized by elevated red cell mass with an increased risk of both thrombosis and bleeding. Thromboembolic events are the most significant and life-threatening complications associated with PV [1]. Here, we report a rare case of PV presenting as acute myocardial infarction (MI) and briefly discuss the applicability of cur...
